Icons & Text
OK so heres my thought, If people have bad eyesight how do we make sure they can see what there doing on the screen?
I like the idea of having expressive icons that will allow people to see what they're doing, perhaps with text underneath or just to the side of the icon. The icon being the actual highlighted button pressed on screen.
As an idea for bad eyesight are we going to have a setting for text size?

I think having icons is a good idea, of course we need to make sure that they are understandable.
Resizable text is also a good idea.
I think audio accompaniment should be a must for this potential problem. Something as simple as the system speaking confirmation of actions or asking for confirmation etc. will reduce the dependency on visuals alone.
Its a good idea to have audio, thats partly why we decided to add the speaker to the remote.
The only concern is with people with hearing difficulties, what do we do to help them? This is probably me being pedantic about the hole issue, if we did that nothing would ever get done.
Surely hearing difficulties will be encountered by the louder audio accompaniment? Else we could have a vibrate function in the handset/remote as an alert for them to realise there is something they need to pay attention too.
Large sized text is probably better - if we make the menus simple enough that we don't need much text, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
