The Prototype

Its finally done,

Its take a while to get everything together and arrange in the correct order.

I made the changes to the few typos in the text and have sent the actual video to Anna to put up on her Youtube account, hopefully we can get the movie up on the actual blog.

I don't think its been really discussed how we came up with the prototype in the blog so far, so I think before its actually online we should go through the processes involved.

Stage 1 is as ever long arduous meetings to really get the finer point of the system nailed down and to chose what our prototype will show.

Next we had to decide how we were going to produce a prototype for the product. Considering the expansive number of features we have on the product, it became quite apparent that producing images showing all of the features wouldn't really help the user see how it works. At this point we decided that perhaps a short animation of the various menus in the system would be a nice way of showing the system.

As with most good ideas this grew until we decided to show some stop motion animations of
a character in various situations that highlighted the uses of the system. To complete this we designed a small test flat and drew it on a whiteboard. We then created paper copies of the people and events that could occur and took shots of these inside the test flat.

With all of the stop motion shots and menu screens we put the images together adding subtitles to create a short promotional video to act as our prototype.

That about covers everything we did, although this is still quite a brief description of what we went through. Feel free to add anything I've missed.
