Prototype Testing - Lily Greenwood

Scenario 1:
"Your video says it's going to take them 6 hours to find me if I have an accident. What use is that? I don't want to be lying there for hours! How will it know who to ring? It's not easy for my son to come and see me, he lives far away. Can it call my neighbour or granddaughter instead? If it's six hours later, surely it should call a Doctor? How's it going to know if I've gone out of the house or if I'm asleep? I don't want to put someone to hassle because I'm not in.
And I've got a cat - will he set off the motion sensors? That's not going to help me much if I have an accident."

Scenario 2
"If I were to fall and somehow couldn't reach the alarm remote, what happens then? Will I have to lie there for ages until the other system kicks in? I'd be better off shouting for help or calling someone myself. Can I use this system as a phone?"

Scenario 3
"But I already have a fire alarm. Surely this is the same thing? And what are all these phonecalls going to do to my phone bill? I only live on a pension, you know, I can't be paying for a machine that uses my phone all the time."

System interface
"Well, it looks simple enough to use. Do I just use these arrows? Ooh, isn't that clever! How do I get back to my normal tv though? I don't see an option for that... Oh, I have to go back to the first screen? How do I do that then? Couldn't you just have that button on the bottom of every page? Ah, that's better, I can see the tv now. ... How do I turn it back on again?"

System Features - Manage My Home
"Ooh, this is nice. I like the idea that I can turn the lights off in the kitchen if I've forgotten while I'm putting my feet up. Will I still be able to turn these things on and off when I'm in the room though? I don't want to have to come into the living room to turn the oven on, that's a bit silly. Could I use it to turn the lights on before I come home from the WI?"

System Features - Shopping
"I don't think I'll use this, it looks all a bit too complicated. I like going out and getting fresh air when I go shopping. I can't be chatting to Sue on the tills if I use this, can I? I don't want to be paying extra for delivery when I can still walk around healthily, I'm not an invalid."

Remote Design
"I like the look of it, the buttons are nice and big and clear. It's easy to read and doesn't look too daunting. It's comfortable to hold, but I have to use both hands to use it easily as my fingers are arthritic.
I don't like the alarm button. It's not very easy to operate with two hands when I'm using it normally, and I think it would be much harder to use if I fell. Perhaps a sliding button on the side of the remote would work?
How heavy will it be? I don't want to have something round my neck thats going to hurt. And will I need to take it with me when I go out? It's a bit bulky to put in your handbag."
